  • Department of Anthropology

Tomas Matza is a medical anthropologist with an interest in climate change, the anthropocene, and the anthropology of environment. He has co-authored an essay with Nicole Heller (Carnegie Musem of Natural History) in the forthcoming volume, Future Remains: A Cabinet of Curiosities for the Anthropocene (University of Chicago Press, 2018), and periodically teaches courses related to the social life of climate change. Although not his current research, Dr. Matza is interested in the intersection between global environmental projects and local livelihoods, particularly in the context of carbon forestry offsets.
